Old Western Scrounger was founded by “Dangerous” Dave Cumberland, who realized that many of the vintage old guns he sold at his gun shop came in calibers that were not being made anymore. Dave began making ammunition in these obsolete calibers, and his business grew like gangbusters to the point where the Old Western Scrounger became the best-known source for hard-to-find calibers.

When Dave retired in 2005, he sold OWS to Val Forgett III, the owner of Navy Arms. Val continues to offer a wide variety of obsolete and hard-to-find ammo and has expanded OWS’s business to military surplus firearmsmilitary surplus rifleslong guns, vintage collectible firearms and classic sporting firearms that Navy Arms purchases worldwide.
