French FAMAS 1958 rifle bayonet & scabbard marked DLT 1-79 which is a January, 1979 dated blade and bayonet. Â This is an original vintage bayonet and scabbard sourced directly from the French military. Â This is the earlier scabbard version that has a metal lead into the sheath, which is the 1958 pattern bayonet. Â We have very few bayonets with matching dated scabbard and this is a difficult item to find. Â Bayonets are in very good condition, with the photos shown representative of the condition of the bayonets.
The FAMAS bayonet is derived from the French Model 1958 Bayonet. Â It is originally designed for the MAS 49/56 rifle. The bayonet is a standard accessory and mounts above the barrel of the rifle and will fit both the MAS49/56 or FAMAS rifle.
Characteristics:
- Design: The bayonet has a two-edged blade, typically with a black phosphate finish for standard issue versions.
- Dimensions: The total length is approximately 328 mm (12.9 in), with a blade length of around 203 mm (8.0 in).
- Mounting: Unlike most rifles where the bayonet is fitted below the barrel, the FAMAS bayonet is fitted above the barrel.
- Standard Issue: Features a black plastic grip and a black plastic scabbard with a green synthetic or web belt holder.Â
